In Task 3A, we are required to print out a real book with the content we had in Task 2, here are the text and visuals that I included in my book.

In Task 1 Exercise 2, I explored several book size options and determined the book size as 180mm x 240mm.

I didn't use the grids I had in Task 1 Exercise 5 so I tried different margins for the book, and this is my final margins and columns.

I also got some layout inspirations from Pinterest for the table of contents and body text.

Fonts
I decided to choose IM FELL English - Italic as my book covers and chapter titles font, and I also applied Bembo Std - Regular as my body text font. I found out that IM FELL English font is quite attractive for book titles so I downloaded the font and installed it on my laptop.

Working on The Book
Mr. Hijjaz had recommended some of the printing stores for us to do the printing work in class. I decided to choose Mummydesign Print and start communicating with them for the process of printing the book. I choose to use Ivory Card (250gsm) as my cover material and Simili Paper (120gsm) as the content material. I was struggling with using glossy paper or matte paper during the process of determination, I do some research and I saw my friend's outcome of using matte paper as the material of the book, I loved the texture and color so I immediately finalized with the matte paper. For the binding type, I applied a stapler bind on my book.

Total Printing Cost: RM65.70/book

REFLECTION
Experience: Seeing the final outcome of my printed book makes me feel so pleased and joyful. The feeling of publishing a physical book compared to an e-book is completely different. Everything feels more real and tangible when I have the book in my hands. This was my first time publishing a book, and the whole process went quite smoothly. Fortunately, everything proceeded without problems because I made sure to communicate clearly to prevent errors and selected a trustworthy printing company that was suggested by Mr. Hijjaz. After doing a lot of research, I'm really happy with the paper's texture and quality. I even printed copies of this book for my own collection because it has so great meaning for me.

Observations: I observed throughout this process that choosing the appropriate paper choices and binding styles for publishing requires a lot of learning. Out of all the options, I like matte paper the most so I also chooses that as my paper material. It enhances the book's overall appearance by providing brilliant colors and a beautiful finish.

Findings: I learned that printing a book is a complicated process with many moving parts to consider. To prevent wasting money, it is essential to double-check everything before printing because even minor errors can have a big impact on the outcome. Through this task, I learned a lot about the details of book printing, from selecting the appropriate book materials and paper textures to establishing appropriate bleed margins.
