FINAL PROJECT - INFOGRAPHIC VIDEO ANIMATION
Using a processed design framework, you will now produce an infographic report to present the given information to a ‘target audience’ with the purpose of:

1. Creating awareness (such as Global Warming, Recycle, etc.)
2. Explaining a process (such as "how to" video)
3. Defining a concept (such as "What is Fast Fashion", "What is Color Wheel", etc.)

Any time based media and software using photography, vector imagery.

Design Considerations:
● Organization Principles – LATCH and Content Organization
● Aesthetic Principles – Animation principles
● Cognitive Principles – Principles of visualization

Output Expectation:
The presentation must be deliberated on, consider each assessment rubric of sorts to your final outcome:
● Show causality
● Multivariate graphics and visuals
● Integrate word number and images
● Content count
● Within eyesight
● Use multiple charts
● Do not de-quantify

REQUIREMENT:
Video resolution: 1920px x 1080px HD (min 1.5 mins max 3 mins)

PROCESS
In the first week, we were divided into groups, with our group consisting of 10 members. We began brainstorming potential topics and ideas, eventually finalizing "Adopting vs. Buying Pets" as our topic to compare the benefits of both options. Since we were the first group scheduled to present next week, we assigned different tasks to each member to ensure a well-prepared presentation.

Task Roles:
1. Introduction (1) Sue Zhiun
2. Why Choose the Topic (1) Emily
3. Objective of the video (3) Charmine, Kerly, Wee Han
4. Target Audience (1) Suet Yee
5. Key Information & Data (3) Wei Yi, Noelle, Joey, Angel
6. Sources & References Everyone

After distributing the tasks, I focused on my research of the objective in the flip presentation, finalize with our main objective is to:
- Building Emotional Connection with Viewers
- Encouraging Adoption
- Spread Awareness about The Importance of Adopting
- Dispelling Myths of Adopting
- Ethical Considerations of Buying and Adopting Pets
- Emphasizing Long-Term Commitment

In the second week, we conducted a presentation to introduce our topic, "Adopting vs Buying Pets" to Mr. Shamsul and Mr. Fauzi. We are advised to reduce the amount of information presented and also try to create a comparison infographic in our final video.

Below is our Flip Presentation Slide :
FLIP PRESENTATION

After receiving feedback, we began brainstorming and working on our final project video. Mr. Shamsul recommended that we create a Miro mind map to add our ideas and organize them for the process. Additionally, we held a physical meeting on campus to discuss the project details and distribute tasks among team members, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.

Task Roles:
Storyboard & Script - Emily, Suet Yee
Illustration & Animation - Wee Han, Charmine, Kerly, Sue Zhiun, Angel
Voice Effects - Noelle, Wei Yi, Joey

During our first progress check, Mr. Shamsul noted that our storyboard flowed more like a short story rather than an infographic video. He advised us to incorporate the information from our Flip Presentation slides to better align with the infographic style. In response, Emily and Suet Yee revised the storyboard, creating an improved version that better suited the intended format.

After our new storyboard and script were approved by Mr. Shamsul, the illustration and animation team began working in Canva and Illustrator. We chose these software tools for their ease of collaboration, allowing teammates to conveniently share updates and maintain consistency in animation and graphic elements.

Refinement
To enhance the animation flow and refine the graphic elements, we (the illustration and animation teams) adjusted parts of the storyboard to better align with the infographic video style. Several modifications were made to the revised storyboard to improve clarity, visual consistency, and overall presentation.

During our Week 6 consultation, we presented our initial illustration and animation progress. We were advised to ensure consistency in typeface choices and illustration styles. Additionally, for the animation, it was suggested that certain parts should be held longer to improve readability and flow. Since we are using Canva for animation, we need to ensure smooth execution and transitions.

I take part in illustrations and animations according to the new moodboard and storyboard, below is my workspace in Illustrator.

After completing the illustrations and animations, we moved on to the sound effects team. With their contributions, we finalized the video, ensuring a polished and cohesive final product.

SUBMISSION - FINAL PROJECT

FEEDBACK
Week 1
  • Introduce the Final Project topic clearly and effectively.
  • Support content with credible sources and research.
  • Use clear and engaging visuals to enhance understanding.

Week 2/ Online Presentation

  • Reduce the amount of information presented
  • Create a comparison infographic
  • Add links to slides or the e-portfolio

Week 5/ Progress Check

  • Balance graphic and information

  • Have graphics and charts, costs, etc.

  • Currently our storyboard feels like a short story rather than an infographic video

  • Use the information we have gathered from our FLIP Presentation

  • Have a conclusion at the end

Week 6/ Progress Check

  • Storyboard & Script is approved

  • Make sure the animation is good enough since we are using Canva

  • Make sure the video is within 3 Minutes

  • Animators (hold on to certain parts to read text easier, it is too fast-paced)

  • Illustrators

    • Choose a modern typeface, to treat as a body copy

    • Heading using current typeface, information (body texts) can use another typeface

    • More consistent with typeface and illustrations

Week 7/ Progress Check

Have at least a voiceover and sound effects in certain parts, add a song if needed.

REFLECTION
Throughout the past 7 weeks, I have gained invaluable experience and knowledge in Information Design. Choosing the topic "Adopting vs. Buying Pets" allowed us to explore a meaningful societal issue while improving our research, planning, collaboration, illustration, and animation skills.

Throughout this process, I identified areas for improvement that will guide my learning journey and personal growth. Although we initially faced subtle challenges in communication and collaboration, we gradually became more coordinated and cooperative, leading to a final outcome that we were all satisfied with. Working in a team strengthened my ability to collaborate with different individuals, which is an essential skill in any group project. I also appreciate every member's contribution, hard work, and cooperation to ensure everything was on track and proceeded smoothly to our final video.

This module also deepened our understanding of structuring information effectively through visual storytelling. The LATCH method helped us organize our content in a clear and engaging way, from our first FLIP Presentation to the final project video, enhancing both comprehension and visual appeal. Mr. Shamsul and Mr. Fauzi provided us with valuable feedback, ensuring consistency and refining the aesthetics of our video. We greatly appreciate their insights, which played a crucial role in improving our final project.

Overall, this module has taught me the importance of presenting data in a clear, cohesive, and visually compelling manner. The knowledge and skills I have gained will undoubtedly benefit me in future design projects, helping me communicate information more effectively.
