Reflection
Experience : Throughout these 14 weeks, I gained a lot of understanding in typography since I’m very new to it. At first, I was not really interested in this class but now I have explored many enjoyable aspects within the realm of typography. It’s quite stressful to do all the processes but everytime I finish my work I will be very delighted that I have finally made it. It will always be an opportunity to breakthrough and to become a more skilful designer in the future. I also very appreciate that Mr.Vinod will always take our work seriously and give us feedback directly to improve it into a better version. Although I think that sometimes he is a little bit strict, but he always pushes us to the limit that we can, and from that I have also realized that we should always work harder to achieve the results that we want.
Observations : I observed that I would be more interested in font design due to task 3 of creating our own font style. Thus, I will be noticing the design of the words on the packaging or the poster nowadays. I also realized that different fonts can show different emotions that they want to express. Typography plays a big role in the final design and the practical application is the most important thing that we need to do to strengthen our skills.
Findings : Typography has huge lessons of knowledge and history that I still do not understand. I have to always learn and obtain it with my mind. To gain our vision in typography, we must do more research and look at others' work to learn new things and refine our typography skills. Typography is not a subject that can be mastered quickly so my reminder to myself is to always be humble and work harder. I don’t know if I can accomplish it but I’m looking forward to my ‘Advanced Typography’ for sure.
